What is BeforeInk?

An objective second-opinion tool designed to review tattoo sketches for technical spacing and aging longevity before they become permanent.

Why we built this

Getting a tattoo is a major commitment. While digital screens display micro-details at high resolutions, skin acts as a living, elastic canvas where ink particles naturally migrate (spread) over time.

Most clients feel hesitant to request adjustments to their stencil sketches because they worry about sounding rude or lack the technical vocabulary to describe spacing anomalies. BeforeInk was built to bridge this communication gap. We provide clear, objective metrics and polite scripts so you and your artist can collaborate effectively.

How the diagnostic check works

Once you drop your design file and select your main worries, our review engine evaluates the outline stencils for key physical variables:

  • Line clearance gaps: Finds clusters spaced under 1.5mm that risk merging into solid dark patches.
  • Structural joints: Spots floating, disconnected, or anatomy-bending shapes common in draft sketches.
  • Contour mapping: Assesses whether standard geometric layouts flex naturally around muscle curves.

What BeforeInk is NOT

Important boundaries to keep in mind:
  • Not a replacement for your artist: The final decision and placement adjustments always belong to your licensed professional studio artist.
  • Not a legal AI detector: We cannot prove artistic ownership. We only highlight visual mistakes or repeated details that will not ink cleanly.
  • Not medical advice: BeforeInk does not provide medical, legal, safety, or laser removal recommendations.
