Sternum tattoo design check: Symmetry & underbust curves

Sternum tattoos require absolute symmetry. The design must curve naturally with the underbust line and sit straight on the sternum bone.

Physical warping guidelines

Skin stretches. Muscles contract. Here is how to verify alignment of any body placement stencil:

  • Joint Clearance: Do not place complex micro-details inside bending creases (wrists, elbows, collarbones).
  • Center Grids: Symmetry lines must align when standing in a relaxed posture, not when lying flat on the stencil table.
  • Muscle Wrap: Outlines must follow the natural curves of the muscle groups rather than running horizontally.
